Spittelburg is charming and runs through various pedestrianised streets in the artistic quarter of town. Each of the markets is different in character - the one by the City Hall stays open most of the day and into the evening (about 9pm I think) as dooes the incredibly pretty Schonbrunn Palace market (8.30pm?). I mean, the KVU even features in the Good Hotel Guide!Īs for the Christmas markets - well, they are a delight and by the time you visit you will have five or so to choose from! Apart from the Christmas goods on sale there is plenty of good local food and drink at affordable prices - so if you don't mind eating in the open then it's a great alternative to a more expensive restaurant meal. The restaurant within the hotel is also reputed to be excellent - although being out and about so much we didn't get to try it! Location cannot be is situated in a sidestreet a stones throw from the Cathedral and the Stephansplatz underground interchange which lmeans you are at the hub of the city, on top of the swish-ist shopping streets and perfectly placed to travel all over Vienna. We found service splendid, the breakfasts first rate and the staff helpful. It is Vienna's oldest (around 1700) and being relatively small has an lovely intimate feel to it. We travelled there during the last week in November and stayed at a lovely 4 star hotel called the Konig von Ungarn. Hello Nanci! my wife and two children made a trip identical to the one you are planning last year.
